Gema Andreo Victoria
Gema is a consultant at Climate Focus where she applies her considerable skills across a variety of thematic areas. She provides technical advice on market-based mechanisms, climate finance, and accounting for greenhouse gas emissions for agricultural and environmental projects.
Her core interest lies in the potential of nature-based solutions to address the world’s climate change challenges.
Before joining Climate Focus. Gema held a role at the European Parliamentary Research Service, as a Schuman scheme trainee in the Economic Policies Unit and the Climate Action Research and Tracking Service. Here she conducted research on different aspects of climate change policy, including the potential of dioxide removals and assessments of the latest state of play of climate policy on EU Member States.
Prior to this Gema gained valuable experience at a think tank advising the Welsh Government’ environmental entity, Natural Resources Wales. Supporting advisory services which assist in and ensure the sustainable management of agriculture to preserve water resources in the country.
Gema holds a MSc degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). This is in addition to a Bachelor in Economics from the University of Murcia (Spain).
In her free time, Gema enjoys taking on new DIY projects and is also an avid lover of people and plants, expending much of her time meeting friends and extending her beloved collection of tropical and succulent plants. A keen outdoors person, she can often be found hiking in the hills or travelling and exploring new places.
