Climate Focus with its partner Ecosur Afrique has finalized a UNEP DTU Partnership assignment on West African Power Pool (WAPP) Standardized Baseline Development. The assignment has involved intensive grid power data collection and the development of a regional grid emission factor for West African Power Pool (WAPP) as Standardized Baseline for the ECOWAS region - which includes Nigeria, Niger, Mali, Benin, Togo, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, the Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leon and Ghana - to boost the development of carbon mitigation projects in West Africa.

The West African Power Pool (WAAP) grid emission factor Standardized Baseline (SBL) has recently been approved by the UNFCCC.
