Aron Teunissen

Aron Teunissen is an analyst at Climate Focus. Currently, his primary area of focus is applying his expertise to the development of land use-related climate policy. In addition he contributes to due diligence assignments for clients and supporting a variety of projects across different thematic areas. These include the themes of carbon tax policy and Article 6 readiness, where he applies his considerable skills to produce extensive and relevant background research.

Aron holds a MSc degree in Sustainable Development from Utrecht University. In addition, he completed a BSc degree in Future Planet Studies at the University of Amsterdam. A core component of his master’s work involved contributing to research at the Global Center on Adaptation. Here he applied his skills to support the collection of data used in research centering on non-governmental entities and their approaches to climate action. Subsequent to successfully completing his MSc thesis, he co-authored a new scientific publication on using international awards and prize mechanisms to support local climate actions across the globe.

In his free time, Aron likes to read, taking his longboard for a trip across the city or beach, though not at the same time! He is also an accomplished classical musician. He plays double bass in ensembles and orchestras. He is a big fan of the outdoors and enjoys exploring Europe’s mountains, spending most of his holidays hiking, climbing, or skiing.
