Senior Consultant

Lieke 't Gilde

Lieke is a senior consultant at Climate Focus. Her work currently focuses on supporting governments in designing and communicating climate policies, with a particular focus on carbon pricing policies. She is also closely engaged in the work of Climate Focus related to international carbon markets, closely following the Article 6 negotiations of the Paris Agreement. 

Prior to joining Climate Focus, Lieke worked for six months at the Permanent Mission of The Netherlands to the United Nations in New York. As a political advisor, she was involved in the Fifth Committee negotiations, focusing on the financing of the 2030 Agenda, Special Political Missions and UN reform. Before moving to New York, Lieke was Board Member Sustainable Development and International Affairs at the Dutch National Youth Council (NJR), and as Project Leader co-organized the ‘Night of the UN’ and the European Youth Conference during the Dutch EU presidency in 2016. During her studies, Lieke volunteered for IUCN, developing three short documentaries on how Berlin, Rotterdam and Barcelona adapt to climate change using ecosystem services. In her spare time, Lieke enjoys hiking and photography.

Lieke holds an LLM degree from the University of Amsterdam (European and International Public Law), where she focused on International Environmental Law and the Law of State Responsibility by writing her thesis on ‘State Responsibility for Climate Change Related Damages’.
