Mauriz Schuck
Mauriz Schuck is a consultant at Climate Focus. He focuses on carbon markets, climate finance and climate policies. He is passionate about the themes of action on climate change and development and how they can be combined for a more sustainable future. His knowledge and expertise encompass national and international climate policies, carbon market mechanisms and sustainable urban development in both emerging and developing countries. At Climate Focus, he supports governments, multilateral organisations and private sector clients with the design and implementation of climate finance solutions. His work also includes engagement with carbon markets and supporting in-country readiness for Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Previously, Mauriz worked as a consultant at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, where his focus was in the field of sustainable municipal and environmental infrastructure. He also worked at two strategic political communications consultancies in Berlin, serving clients from both the public and private sectors.
Mauriz holds a M.A. in International Development from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). For his thesis, he conducted field research in South Africa and analysed the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPP). During his studies, he also supported the student-run Human Development Research Initiative (HDRI) as researcher, focussing on SDG 13 ‘Climate Action’.
In his free time, you can find Mauriz either doing sports (especially beach-/volleyball), hiking or in a museum. He also likes to spend a lot of time in bookshops browsing through new arrivals or cooking a new lentil dish.
