Meet us at the Carbon Expo 2016 in Cologne (25 - 27 May 2016)

Climate Focus is pleased to present itself at the Carbon Expo 2016 in Cologne. You can meet our team in the German Pavilion.

This year’s program features a list of events which we strongly recommend attending:

  • Linking CDM and GCF (German Pavilion Lounge Wednesday, 25 May, 1 - 2pm) Discussion on the potential of linking the CDM with climate financing institutions, such as the Green Climate Fund, and its potential for Africa.

  • Going, Going, Gone: Using Auctions to Support Climate Projects (Room 4 & 5, 2nd Floor, Thursday, 26 May, 12 -1 pm)
This workshop hosted by the World Bank will analyze and discuss the use of innovative auction instruments to deliver climate financing.  In addition to examining the experience of the Pilot Auction Facility for Methane and Climate Change Mitigation, the session will review cases where auctions have delivered financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy.  Looking forward, the panellists, which includes Sandra Greiner, will explore the opportunities for climate auctions to incentivize reductions in oil and gas, cook stoves, and other sectors that have the potential to help countries meet their commitments under the Paris Agreement.

  • Linking carbon markets and climate finance: Potential for Africa (Friday 27 May, 10am)
This side event will convene a panel of experts and policy-makers in order to discuss what the Paris Agreement means for carbon markets in Africa. Ongoing research on linkages between climate financing institutions, such as the Green Climate Fund, and market mechanisms, such as the CDM, is being presented.
