Voluntary Carbon Market Global Dialogue Regional Consultations
Voluntary Carbon Market Global Dialogue Regional Consultations
Starting next week, Climate Focus, Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID), SouthSouthNorth in Africa, and Transforma embark on four weeks of regional consultations gathering views and perspectives of host countries, project developers and other stakeholders on the supply-side of the voluntary carbon market.
Consultations are held in the context of the Voluntary Carbon Market Global Dialogue. The Global Dialogue puts the perspective of the Global South at the center of the discussion about how the voluntary carbon market can best contribute to the achievement of the goals of the Paris Agreement and stimulate sustainable development.
From mid-June until mid-July, the VCM Global Dialogue organizes a series of regional dialogue sessions on how the voluntary carbon market can drive mitigation activities that support national climate plans and local priorities, and how it can unlock greater levels of private investment. We are inviting stakeholders with involvement in the voluntary carbon market to participate in the stakeholder consultations in your region. The meetings aim to build a shared understanding and position on what is needed for the voluntary carbon market to harness its full potential.
The regional consultation sessions are particularly interesting for stakeholders with involvement in the voluntary carbon market as:
- Representatives from national and local governments
- Project developers
- REDD+ practitioners
- Investors
- Carbon market service providers
Regional stakeholder consultations will take place as follows:
- Asia and Pacific: 23 June-1 July 2021
- Africa: 24 June-13 July 2021
- Latin America: 1-13 July 2021
If you are involved in the voluntary carbon market, register for the stakeholder consultation in your region, through this link.
In the run-up to the consultations, the VCM Global Dialogue author team has interviewed a wide range of stakeholders to develop four discussion papers on the perspective of governments, project developers, corporates as well as diving into the specifics of REDD+. These papers will be presented at the regional stakeholder consultations to open the discussion. The outcomes of the Dialogue will be presented ahead of COP26 in Glasgow.
The regional stakeholder consultations are organized and hosted by the Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID) in the Asia-Pacific region, SouthSouthNorth in Africa, and Transforma in Latin America. Climate Focus is proud to coordinate the efforts of the VCM Global Dialogue.
